West End Live 2016

West End Live is one of those wonderful events in London that is unbelievably free. I’ve heard about it for years, but for some reason or another I have always missed it or not been in the area. Well finally, this year, I managed to get there for one of the two days, catching most of the second day.

If you haven’t heard about it, West End Live is a celebration of all the performances that happen daily in the West End, and performers from all the various shows come down to Leicester Square and perform medleys or sketches form their shows.

This year there was an amazing range from the now classic Wicked, the new Aladdin and even more modern ones like American Idiot, returning to the West End at this very moment! Within this they also have some of the more famous West End singers such as The Barricade Boys who wowed the audience with their beautiful voices.

Inside Leicester Square they also have booths from various stage shows and companies, allowing you to dress up, take silly pictures and win prizes. This year they even had a movie car exhibition which I adored, and I got to sit inside the Flintstones car!

I love theatre, so this event is perfect for me, but it’s also great for anyone who’s a little unsure about how much they might enjoy these shows, or is struggling to spend the money. Next year’s show should be as good as ever, so when the time comes, grab a picnic, get there early and enjoy yourself!
